General Session #1 - Risk and Regulation: The Costs of Doing Business 

Banks paid out billions in mortgage-related fines after the 2008 financial crisis, spurring financial institutions to reexamine how they do business. This panel will look at how modern banks and mortgage servicers are working to minimize risk, and how increased regulation has fundamentally reshaped the mortgage landscape, leading to the increasing prominence of nonbank servicers even as some depository banks step back from mortgage.
